The Alutiiq Museum’s library contains materials that support the mission and the work of the museum. The collection includes over 1,700 books, and more than 1,400 journals, articles, catalogs, conference papers, maps, newsletters, speeches, pamphlets, presentations, recordings, technical reports, transcripts, and unpublished manuscripts - both original and copied. The library collection also holds a large number of photographs documenting Alutiiq artifacts in the World's museums, videos on heritage programming, as well as copies of family photographs, historical photographs, and archival documents stored in other repositories. Accessing the LibraryThese collections are designed to help our staff produce exhibits and educational programs, and to provide reference materials for visitors. Giving to the LibraryThe Alutiiq Museum's welcomes gifts to its library and accepts materials within the thematic scope of the collection, as well as grants and gifts of money to purchase library materials.
