Educational Boxes Available to Travel

Bring a piece of the museum to your classroom, camp, program, or event with our traveling educational boxes. Each box explores Alutiiq heritage with hands-on activities that can be adjusted for youth of many ages. Activity cards help leaders share the materials.

Check One Out

Anyone may check out our educational boxes for up to two weeks at a time. There is no charge to use the materials. If shipping is needed, the museum pays the outbound shipping, and the borrower pays to ship the box back. Who Are Alutiiqs Box

Focuses on four core areas of Alutiiq life - homeland, language, customs, and history - and includes an interactive time line, audio taped Alutiiq vocabulary lessons, an account of a traditional ceremony, and much more. Developed with generous support from Kodiak's US Coast Guard Officer's Spouses Association.

An Alutiiq Education: Toys, Games, & Stories Box

Includes traditional stories, examples of boys and girls toys, and game pieces and directions for four traditional games.

Saving our Alutiiq Language Box

Includes interactive language learning tools (doll board game, flash cards), as well as audio and video resources, and an Alutiiq dictionary.

Alutiiq Animals

Includes beanie babies representing local animals, flash cards, bingo game, and ideas for classroom games and activities that teach Alutiiq animal vocabulary and basic verbs.

Petroglyph Prints

Includes petroglyph stamps and clay tablets for rubbings, The Cape Alitak Petroglyphs book, informational handouts, and link to website videos about Kodiak rock art.

Dancing Forward

Includes instructional DVD from 2011 Dance Workshop Cutmen Agnguartukut - We are Dancing Forward, headdress and belt making instructions, Alutiiq masks coloring book, Giinaquq Like a Face book, Generations music CD, drum. and rattle.
